ILO Labour force estimates and projections

The statistical study provides estimates of the proportion of labour migrant workers among the total number of migrants worldwide. It outlines the regions and industries where international migrant workers are established and includes a specific focus on migrants in domestic work with updated numbers.

ILO provides estimates on migrant workers and migrant domestic workers for 176 countries for the year 2013. The estimates are derived by combining data on world population (UN); stock of international migrants (UN) and labour force (ILO). The estimates are derived from international data sources that provide benchmark data on population; stock of international migrants; estimates and projections of the economically active population (labour force) for the reference year 2013 and national data on migrant workers; domestic workers and migrant domestic workers obtained from population censuses; labour force surveys and other large-scale household surveys.
